Robert Roeschlaub was born in Munich, Bavaria on July 6, 1843. In 1845, he emigrated with his parents to America where the family settled in Quincy, Ill. Roeschlaub participated in the American Civil War as a soldier with the 84th Ill. Infantry. After the war, he began his architectural training with Robert Bunce before following his father west to Colo. Territory in 1873 and later became known as the "first trained" architect in Denver.
